Kuster Backs Legislation to Halt Trump's Travel Ban

Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) has joined more than one hundred and fifty of her colleagues in pursuing legislation that would defund President Trump's executive order barring admittance of refugees seeking entry to the United States. The Statue of Liberty Values (SOLVE) Act of 2017 would prohibit the use of federal funds to enforce President Trump's executive order. Over the weekend, Trump Advisor Rudy Giuliani said that President Trump had sought a way to enact a "Muslim ban" "legally".

"America should serve as a beacon of hope around the world and President Trump's executive action halting the acceptance of refugees only serves to undermine the standing and leadership of the United States," said Congresswoman Kuster. "I agree with my Democratic and Republican colleagues that this action is counter to our very values as a nation, and that it will make us less safe. This is not a partisan issue; it's an American issue, and I will fight to reverse this executive order and defend the values of acceptance and inclusion that make America truly great."
