Rep. Gallagher Votes in Favor of Strengthening Career & Technical Education in WI-08

Statement

Date: June 22, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Today Congressman Mike Gallagher voted in favor of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. This bipartisan piece of legislation seeks to strengthen career and technical education programs in order to help American workers succeed in in-demand, high-skilled jobs. Congressman Gallagher serves as a co-sponsor of the bill.

In response to the bill's passage today, Rep. Gallagher released the following statement:

"As I travel across Northeast Wisconsin, business owners routinely tell me they are hiring but can't find workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to do the jobs they're hiring for. This bill will help close the skills gap and boost economic growth by equipping students with the skills they need to fill the in-demand and high-skilled jobs in our local economies.

I'm confident that schools in Northeast Wisconsin are prepared to lead the way when it comes to closing our country's growing skills gap, and it is time that we give them the tools they need to do so. I am proud to serve as a cosponsor of this important piece of bipartisan legislation."
