Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today applauded the Senate for acting to help deliver more cures, treatments, and therapies to patients, and bring our health care system into the 21st century. The Senate passed H.R. 34, the 21st Century Cures Act, an important bipartisan initiative that will make needed reforms, and spur medical innovation that will make real differences in people's lives. The bill was passed in the Senate by a vote of 94-5. The House passed it last week and it now heads to the president for his signature.

"After years of hard work, we finally have a meaningful bill ready to be signed into law, which lays the groundwork for making needed medical breakthroughs to provide hope for patients in dire need of new and effective treatments," Rep. Pete Olson said. "I'm proud that this Congress worked together in a bipartisan way to advance the innovation and technological advances to improve quality of life and deliver cures to patients and peace of mind for their families. With one in three Americans impacted by the diseases this bill seeks to help, we can't wait any longer to find a path to cures."
