Olson Statement on Obama Offshore Drilling Action

Statement

Date: Dec. 20, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) this evening issued the following statement in response to President Obama's last ditch effort to halt offshore oil and gas drilling as he leaves office:

"After working tirelessly to shut down the coal industry on his watch, Obama is now leaving the offshore drilling industry with a parting 'gift'. It's disappointing that the Obama Administration continues to say no to domestic energy development. America needs a comprehensive energy plan for our Outer Continental Shelf exploration. This Administration's actions are counterproductive and do nothing to help our nation to realize its energy potential. I'm confident President-elect Trump will act swiftly to undo this short-sighted action and strengthen our nation's energy security and job creation."
