Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day:

"Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."

"Dr. King's mission was to encourage us to live up to the words of the Declaration of Independence, that "all men are created equal.' His methods were nonviolent protest and powerful eloquence. With those tools, he moved us as a nation toward our best ideals."

"We all benefit from Dr. King's example. Today is a day for Americans to remember the great things he did and the great truths that inspired him."
