Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the House Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2018 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act on a voice vote, which included $130 million in funding the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC):
"I am very proud the House Appropriations Committee approved a bill that includes important funding for the ARC, an organization that does a great deal of good in East Tennessee and rural Appalachia. Earlier this year, I led 14 of my bipartisan colleagues in writing a letter to express my support for continued funding for the ARC. I applaud the Appropriations Committee, including Subcommittee Chairman Mike Simpson and full Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen, for prioritizing this important program, and I look forward to the full House's consideration of this bill."
