Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on the release of President Trump's fiscal year 2018 budget request:

"I applaud President Trump and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney for putting forward a serious budget blueprint that prioritizes economic growth and starts the process of getting our fiscal house back in order. Thankfully, President Trump included a number of provisions that affect issues important to the First District of Tennessee, like the repeal of former President Obama's troubling Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which will ensure seniors' access to Medicare benefits are protected. Since I've served in Congress I've pushed for a balanced budget, and I'm glad to see President Trump's budget balances over ten years. I look forward to working with the president and my colleagues in Congress to review the details of this proposal and fund our national priorities while cutting the out-of-control spending in Washington that has threatened the futures of our children and grandchildren for far too long."
