U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow today announced that the Michigan State Block Grant Program has been awarded a $9,933,338.00 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support a variety of airport improvement projects in small airports across the state, including runway and taxiway rehabilitations, lighting and navigational aids, terminal building improvement and equipment and facility upgrades. The Michigan State Block Grant program services 73 non-primary airports, which include commercial service, reliever, and general aviation airports.

"Michiganders rely on their community airports for travel, economic opportunity and access to new markets for their goods and services," said Senator Peters, a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. "I applaud this funding, which will help ensure that Michigan's small airports have the infrastructure and ability to provide safe travel for residents and visitors alike."

"This funding will make traveling all across Michigan safer and more efficient for everyone," said Senator Stabenow. "Safe and reliable air travel will also help encourage businesses to invest in our great state and create more jobs."
