Pelosi Statement on CBO Score of Senate Version of Trumpcare

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office released its analysis of Senate Republicans' current draft of Trumpcare:

"Today, the CBO confirmed that Senate Republicans' version of Trumpcare is even meaner than the bill that Republicans jammed through the House. Americans with pre-existing conditions would face staggering out-of-pocket costs. Trumpcare would also expose millions of Americans to the dreaded lifetime and annual limits on the care of children and families with serious ailments. Twenty-two million Americans will lose health coverage.

"Trumpcare fundamentally means higher health costs, millions of hard-working Americans losing health coverage, gutting key protections, a crushing age tax, and stealing from Medicare. The crushing Medicaid cuts will have an especially brutal impact on rural America, shuttering rural hospitals and an important source of good-paying jobs. Veterans, seniors, women and working families will suffer just so Republicans can hand another massive tax break to billionaires.

"People will die if Trumpcare becomes law. Trumpcare is a prescription for unspeakable suffering, and a crushing burden on the pocketbooks of hard-working Americans. We are in a life-or-death battle for families across America, and Democrats are standing with patients, doctors, and the American people in fighting the heartless monstrosity of Trumpcare. "
