As National Police Week comes to a close, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following video statement honoring our men and women in blue, especially those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty:

Remarks:

"As National Police Week comes to a close, we will continue to recognize and thank the brave men and women of law enforcement that work night and day to protect us. Police officers and their families make incredible sacrifices so that we can all work, live, and raise our families in the safest communities possible.

"Today, we remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Last year was an especially tough year in my home state of Louisiana, where 10 police officers were killed in the line of duty. Those officers and their families will remain in our prayers.

"To all those police officers who go to work every day protecting our communities, thank you for your service."
