Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) issued the following statement after House Republicans voted last night to dismantle Congress' independent ethics panel:

"It is absolutely shameful that House Republicans, in one of their first acts of the new Congress, voted to gut their own independent ethics panel. This move reeks of politics at its worst and is the equivalent of the fox guarding the hen house. Dismantling your independent watchdog committee isn't 'draining the swamp' -- it is Republicans shamefully acting to protect their own interests."
