Location: Gillespie, IL

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today began his farm bill listening sessions in Macoupin and Madison Counties in preparation for writing the next farm bill. Davis will hold several listening sessions throughout the summer to gather input from local farmers and agriculture leaders about issues they would like to see addressed in the next farm bill. The 2014 Farm Bill is set to expire next year.

Davis is a member of the House Agriculture Committee and chair of the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research. He was an integral part of writing and passing the 2014 Farm Bill, which provided long-term reforms to protect crop insurance and other important programs that surpassed the Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) estimates of $23 billion in savings and will save taxpayers $100 billion over ten years. Additionally, Davis championed language to give farmers a greater voice in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) when they issue regulations impacting agriculture.
