U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below after voting for the confirmation of Rep. Ryan Zinke to serve as Secretary of the Interior. The Senate approved Zinke's appointment by a vote of 68-31.
"Having grown up on the coast of South Carolina, I appreciate the important balance of both protecting our natural resources and utilizing our federal lands and waters for recreation, economic development, and energy production. The Secretary of the Interior plays a critical role in ensuring our public lands and waters are available for multiple use purposes, and I am proud to support the confirmation of Congressman Ryan Zinke as Secretary today."
