This week, U.S. Representative Peter J. Roskam embarked on a "tax tour" throughout Chicago's western and northwestern suburbs.
He was recently named Chairman of the Ways & Means Tax Policy Subcommittee, a key legislative perch from which he is expected to play a leading role in the first major overhaul of the nation's tax laws in over three decades.
Chairman Roskam met with individuals from all walks of life to hear how they interact with the tax code. Small business owners, independent contractors, non-profit leaders, ride-sharing service drivers, restaurant franchisees, and certified public accountants all shared their experiences navigating the current tax regime, offering feedback on specific aspects of the code they find particularly helpful or harmful.
On Monday, he delivered a major speech on tax reform at the Heritage Foundation.
He also appeared on CNBC's Squawk on the Street with Wheaton's own Rick Santelli and Fox Business's Varney & Co.
