Washington, DC -- On Friday evening, President Donald Trump issued an unconstitutional executive order banning individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States of America.

Within hours, a federal judge issued a stay against the Executive Order.

"Let me be clear, the President's order is unconstitutional, reckless and un-American. Far from making us safer, this order does the exact opposite," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly. "It's time for Congressional Republicans to get serious and stand up for the Constitution."

Following massive, nationwide protests against the Executive Order, the White House has doubled-down on their manufactured Constitutional crisis. The Administration continues to push an inaccurate narrative that this Order somehow enhances our national security.

"Our security can never be increased through discriminatory bans based on religion or national origin. Nor can we risk sacrificing the faith of local supporters who stood side-to-side with our servicemembers," said Lt. General (USA ret.) Robert Gard. "President Trump's executive order is actively making us less safe and it's time for him to rescind it."

"With this Executive Order, President Trump has turned America's back to the world's most vulnerable. We've abandoned our allies while providing our enemies with perceived legitimacy," said Maj. General (USAF ret.) Charles Tucker. "President Trump's executive order has profoundly damaged our nation's prestige, credibility and reliability. If the President continues down this path, it will not be "America First' but rather "America Alone.'"

"As a member of the Foreign Affairs subcommittee focused on emerging security threats, I can tell you that this order makes us less safe," said Congresswoman Kelly. "We already know that ISIS and other terrorist organizations are using President Trump and his disastrous policies to recruit fighters against our nation, citizens and allies. Why is President Trump playing directly into ISIS's hands?"

President Trump's order covers seven Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The Executive Order does not cover a single nation that contributed a hijacker on 9/11.

In particular, Congresswoman Kelly pointed out that this order actively endangers the ability of our warfighters to complete their mission.

"This order actively endangers the lives and families of local supporters who served shoulder-to-shoulder with our brave servicemen and women in uniform in the heat of combat," added Congresswoman Kelly. "If you are willing to risk your life for America and our servicemen and women, you deserve better than an airport holding cell."
