Lamborn Calls for Increased Accountability at the VA

Statement

This week, the House of Representatives passed a series of bills to improve accountability at the Veterans Administration and restore due process rights to veterans.

Congressman Lamborn has released the following statement:

"I was pleased to support these three bills that will restore the right to bear arms to our veterans and improve hiring and discipline at the Veterans Administration.

However, I believe there is much more we must do to ensure accountability at the VA. I feel so strongly that this issue should be our number one priority, that one of the very first things I did in the new Congress was introduce accountability legislation. In order to rid the VA of bad actors and eliminate barriers that prevent veterans from receiving timely care, we need to give VA leadership more tools to hold misbehaving employees accountable.

With that end goal in mind, I urge my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass the VA Accountability First and Appeals Modernization Act of 2017 and the Caring for Our Heroes in the 21st Century Act to expand the disciplinary actions and change the culture at the Veterans Administration."
