U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, cosponsored a resolution to honor the legacy and accomplishments of civil rights leader César E. Chávez.

"César Chávez was a visionary and fearless leader who fought tirelessly for better working conditions and fair wages. He inspired a generation of community organizers across the country to stand up for justice and civil rights," said Sen. Heinrich. "Chávez's legacy and spirit live on in New Mexico through the tireless work of those who strive to make their communities better. Let us continue to meet each challenge the way César Chávez did, with hope, determination, and service to others. ¡Si Se Puede!"

Every year on March 31, more than 10 states, including New Mexico, honor the accomplishments and legacy of César Chávez. In New Mexico, César Chávez Day brings communities together to celebrate and contribute to service and learning projects across the state.
