Inhofe Votes to Set Up Confirmation of Judge Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court

Statement

Date: April 6, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), today released a statement in response to Senate Democrats' attempt to filibuster and block Judge Neil Gorsuch from receiving an up-or-down vote to be the next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

"I am extremely disappointed in the last-ditch partisan and unprecedented attempt by Senate Democrats to block Neil Gorsuch's confirmation to the bench of the Supreme Court. Neil Gorsuch is supremely qualified, principled, fair and has secured the support and respect of influential voices across the political spectrum. The decision by Democrats to block his nomination is proof that they will block any Supreme Court nominee by President Trump, regardless of who it is and how qualified they may be. This is the first time in American history that a Supreme Court nominee has been filibustered on partisan lines and the action taken by Leader McConnell today is appropriate. While I am disappointed in the Democrats' decision, I am pleased to be one step closer to confirming perhaps the most qualified man for this job in the country to the Supreme Court."
