Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement today on his vote to confirm Linda McMahon as Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA):

"I voted to confirm Linda McMahon as Administrator of the SBA. She has received strong bipartisan backing and has decades of private sector experience. I appreciate her acknowledgement of the SBA's role as an advocate for the small business community and look forward to working with her to streamline the federal contracting process for Virginia companies. I also look forward to working with her to improve the SBA's disaster relief process for Virginia's small businesses, which are increasingly having to deal with damages caused by sea level rise and other effects of climate change."

Kaine has voted against the nominations of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Betsy DeVos, Tom Price, and Steven Mnuchin. In addition to McMahon, Kaine has voted in support of James Mattis, John Kelly, Mike Pompeo, Nikki Haley, Elaine Chao, and David Shulkin. He has announced his opposition to the nominations of Ben Carson, Mick Mulvaney, and Scott Pruitt. Additional decisions are forthcoming based on ongoing review of the nominees' backgrounds and confirmation hearings.
