U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today voted to confirm Congressman Ryan Zinke, President Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of the Interior.
"Congressman Zinke has a long and distinguished history of serving our country both as a decorated Navy veteran and in public office," McCaskill said. "He understands the importance of our farmers, ranchers, producers, while supporting our public lands so our kids and grandkids will be able to enjoy Missouri's outdoor heritage."
McCaskill is a longtime advocate for the National Park System, including the Ozark National Scenic Riverways and the St. Louis Gateway Arch. And she has continued to push for adequate funding of the Secure Rural Schools program to support schools and roads in the counties around public lands.
Continuing her fight to protect Missouri's hunters and fishers, McCaskill strongly supported the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act, which combined various measures aimed at preserving hunting and fishing rights, renewing key conservation programs, and promoting access to public lands for outdoor recreation.
