Feinstein: GOP Health Care Plan Would Hurt California Women

Statement

Date: March 15, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement highlighting the effect of the Republican health care bill on women in California:

"The Republican plan would have an outsized effect on women's access to reproductive health care in California.

"California is the only state that requires insurance companies to cover the full range of reproductive health care services, including abortion care. This policy helps ensure that women are able to make their own health care decisions, with their families and doctors, free from political interference.

"The Republican plan would hold our state hostage by denying tax credits to Californians unless the state changes its law--even though the Affordable Care Act adheres to federal law. This is a punitive policy that would cause significant harm to women in my state and we are doing all we can to defeat it."
