Vice Chairman Warner on Gina Haspel as CIA Deputy Director

U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement on Director Mike Pompeo's selection of Gina Haspel to be the Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA):
"I appreciate Ms. Haspel's many years of service at the CIA, yet I want some reassurance from her that she intends to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law, like Director Pompeo testified that he would during his confirmation process. To that end, I plan to meet with her as soon as possible to secure that commitment from her, as well as personal assurances that she will keep this Committee fully and currently informed any time the Director is absent or unavailable."
