U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on his vote to confirm Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) to serve as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA):
"Rep. Mike Pompeo has a thorough understanding of the intelligence community and the tools it needs to keep Americans safe. His service in the U.S. Army and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives -- where he was a member of the House Intelligence Committee -- have prepared him well for this role. I am glad the Senate confirmed his nomination today."
