Statement

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today issued the following statement on the Department of Transportation's decision to allow Norwegian Air International to fly into and out of the U.S.

"It is extremely disappointing that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has decided to allow Norwegian Air International to fly into and out of the U.S.

This is a horrible decision that will negatively impact our nation's working men and women for years to come. I am greatly concerned that it will circumvent U.S. labor laws, cause the loss of jobs, and harm the American economy.

I had cosponsored legislation that sought to block this decision, and signed letters that urged the President and Secretary Foxx to not move forward with this plan. But unfortunately, that effort fell on deaf ears.

Our country cannot turn back the clock on working men and women. We have worked too hard to improve labor standards and collective bargaining, as well as creating jobs and bolstering the economy.

We continue to fight this terrible decision."
