Pompeo: Extending Sanctions on Iran's Weapons Programs is Vital to Protect America

Statement

Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS), commented today on the House of Representative's passage of the Iran Sanctions Extension Act.

Pompeo said, "I am proud to stand with representatives from both sides of the aisle against Iranian aggression. Extending sanctions on Iran's weapons programs is an important part of keeping Americans safe. Re-authorizing existing prohibitions for an additional ten years provides President-elect Trump and Congress a solid foundation from which to pursue additional action against the Islamic Republic of Iran. I look forward to working with Trump and my colleagues in the coming weeks and months to protect our nation."

Pompeo serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, an Army veteran, and ran two small businesses before joining Congress in 2011.
