Lance Named a "Guardian of Small Business'

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) has been named a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's leading advocate for small businesses. Lance was selected for his outstanding support of America's small business owners in the U.S. House of Representatives. Nearly 7,000 NFIB members are in New Jersey. One of those members, Glen Gardner resident Mike Yates, presented Lance with the award.

"Thousands of new jobs in New Jersey every year come from small businesses that start from the ground up or expand to take on a new challenge. In Washington, I vote for policies that let people keep more of what they earn, get regulators off the backs of innovators and a tax system that is fairer and flatter. And here in New Jersey, I regularly meet with and talk with people like Mike who face these challenges every day. I support policies to put more consumers in stores and restaurants and to boost economic growth across the country," Lance said after the presentation.

The National Federation of Independent Business, is one of the top national organizations representing the interests of small businesses in New Jersey and across the U.S. The Guardian of Small Business is NFIB's most prestigious award. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with NFIB on the key issues identified by small business owners. Lance received a 100 voting record during the 114th Congress.

Michael Yates runs his own human resources business, Michael F. Yates & Company, Inc., in Washington, N.J. He said, "Congressman Lance has worked hard for small businesses, has fought for small businesses in all forms of federal legislation, and has supported us by the votes he has cast. I am proud to recognize Congressman Lance for his devotion and efforts and present him with the Guardian of Small Business Award."

Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes, legislation that would extend tax code protections for small business exemptions.
