While in the New York State Senate, voted twice in support of Equal Pay for Equal Work.

Voted in favor of providing over $100 million in sexual assault prevention and response efforts (H.R. 2026).

Strong supporter and cosponsor of the International Violence Against Women Act (H.R. 1340).

Vocal advocate on the necessity to completely honor the promise and commitment to our seniors to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.

Fighting for seniors, by passing the Securing Senior's Health Care Act of 2015 (H.R. 2582), which prevents the termination of certain Medicare Advantage plans; supporting the Seniors Health Care Protection Act of 2015 (H.R. 2506), the Strengthening Medicare Advantage through Innovation and Transparency for Seniors Act of 2015 (H.R. 2570), and the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (H.R. 2); and opposing efforts by the Obama Administration to alter the Medicare Part B Drug Program, which would increase costs and limit Seniors' access to necessary medication.

Voted to provide new community based anti bullying support initiatives to improve academic achievement and student engagement, as well as provisions for states and local school districts to implement comprehensive school safety and crisis response policy (S. 1177).

Cosponsored the Childhood Cancer STAR Act (H.R. 3381) to improve childhood cancer treatments and to expand access to best practices for care.
