A Vietnam-era veterans pinning ceremony has been announced in conjunction with the Fourth Annual Luna Pier Veterans Day Parade.

The parade steps off at noon Nov. 5 from Water Tower Park, 11309 Harold Dr. The parade route will be from Water Tower Park to Memorial Park at the corner of Harold Drive and Luna Pier Rd.

After the parade, or about 12:45 p.m., there will be a Vietnam-veteran pinning ceremony led by Michigan Sen. Dale Zorn, R-Ida, and Congressman Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, in Memorial Park. This is among a series of such events that have been held across Monroe County this year.

"The response to previous ceremonies was overwhelming; and we are proud to be holding another event after the only Veterans Day parade in Monroe County," Sen. Zorn said.

"It is an honor to participate in this pinning ceremony as we offer local veterans the recognition and respect that has been so deeply earned," Rep. Walberg said. "After fifty years, this tribute is long overdue."

Those eligible for pins are U.S. military personnel on active duty at any time between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975.
