Catherine Cortez Masto Phone Banked With Latino Community Members, Discussed The Importance of Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Statement

Date: Oct. 18, 2016
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Issues: Immigration

Today, former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for U.S. Senate Catherine Cortez Masto met with mixed status families and Latino community members at a phone bank in Las Vegas. In addition to reminding voters that today is the last day to register to vote, Cortez Masto highlighted the need for comprehensive immigration reform in Washington.

"Too many families are being torn apart by our country's broken immigration system," said Catherine Cortez Masto, former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for U.S. Senate. "My opponent, Congressman Heck, voted to deport DREAMers and signed on to the lawsuit against DAPA and DACA, which would tear millions of families apart. He wants to end birthright citizenship and does not support comprehensive immigration reform.

"The families and community members I met with today know that we need to make comprehensive immigration reform a priority in Washington to ensure that hardworking immigrant families have the same opportunities to achieve the American dream as my family had. I will fight alongside Hillary Clinton to pass comprehensive immigration reform once and for all. By making sure they're registered to vote and getting involved in the political process, Latinos are making sure their voices will be heard."
