Voting should be quick and convenient, and the administration of elections should be for the maximum benefit of the voter. Unfortunately, with the reduction in voting locations over the past several years, wait times have grown, especially in urban areas.
Voters should not be discouraged from voting, and long wait times do that. In Bernalillo County and Sandoval County in recent years, voters have had to stand in line for as many as 3 hours, 5 hours or even 5½ hours. That is unacceptable. Wait times for New Mexico voters should be no longer than 15 minutes--and even that amount of time should be the maximum upper limit.
