Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) today introduced the Bringing Business Back Act to provide state and local municipalities with additional tools to boost economic development in disadvantaged communities. The legislation will provide a one-year income tax exclusion for businesses who invest in vacant commercial or multi-family property where unemployment is 2% higher than the national average.

"Supporting economic investment will create jobs throughout Illinois. These tools will help to build a business-friendly environment for new and expanding small businesses," said Senator Kirk.

Senator Kirk has authored a "Small Business Bill of Rights," which is composed of policies that create a pro-growth environment for small business owners.
