Jason Kander today met with small business owners and entrepreneurs from Hannibal to discuss some of the most important issues facing Missouri's small businesses. The event took place at Mark Twain Brewing Company.
"The tourism industry makes Hannibal a natural fit to start and grow a small business, and you don't have to look far to see the amazing impact entrepreneurs have had here," Jason said. "As Senator, I want to duplicate Hannibal's success around the state and make sure Missouri is the best place to start a small business, because Missourians know Main Street -- not Wall Street -- is where the roots of economic growth begin."
During the discussion, Jason spoke about how he will fight for small businesses and work with entrepreneurs to cut burdensome regulations and provide targeted tax relief for small businesses. Jason has worked to make Missouri the best state in the country to start and run a business throughout his time in public service. Some of Jason's work supporting small businesses, local farmers and entrepreneurs includes:
-Creating a business outreach office on his first day in office as Secretary of State that connects Missourians starting their own businesses with area organizations that can serve as valuable, on the ground resources;
-Launching an initiative through the Secretary of State's office that allows businesses to file nearly all their paperwork online;
-Making it easier for veterans to start a business by getting his proposal passed by the legislature to waive fees for starting a new business for members of the Missouri National Guard and active duty military returning home to Missouri;
-Working with Republican sponsors to pass his proposal to eliminate unnecessary fees and paperwork for family farms; and
-Pushing bipartisan legislation to cut Missouri's business filing fees to the lowest in the country.
