Heinrich Statement On 15th Anniversary Of September 11 Terrorist Attacks

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement recognizing the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks:

"We all remember where we were 15 years ago today, when we heard the news and witnessed the worst terrorist attacks in our nation's history. Today, we solemnly remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and pay tribute to all the first responders and brave civilians who, despite grave danger, risked their lives to help their fellow Americans. We are also grateful for the veterans who have made tremendous sacrifices since 9/11 and those who are currently serving our country at home and abroad. As a nation, we have made major strides over the last 15 years to vigilantly and intelligently respond to the threats we face. By preserving our freedom to go about our daily lives, we will ensure that the terrorists have failed to change who we are and how we live as Americans."
