Issue Position

Quality jobs that pay well are the key to a healthy community. We need to do more to create conditions for small businesses to flourish. But we also need to acknowledge some hard truths: Sarasota County is a place characterized by both wealth and poverty. Having thousands of hard working and even middle class families that are struggling to make ends meet has created real fear and insecurity here at home. This economic insecurity is very real and directly impacts all aspects of our lives -- our schools, our health care, our retirement and definitely our quality of life. We need to turn things around and build a robust, vibrant economy by focusing on better, stronger schools, more affordable healthcare and making sure that hardworking people are paid fairly and fully for the jobs they do.
