Issue Position

The facts are clear. For the last six years, Vermont state government has been spending more than it takes in. And, Vermont families and businesses have been paying for it in significantly increased taxes and fees that they can no longer afford.

With our economy growing at approximately 2% per year, we cannot continue spending increases at 5% year over year.

We must make a change and right this ship. We must grow our economy in the long-term, and bring more fiscal responsibility and sustainability to our spending in the short-term. In order to do so, however, there will be some difficult decisions that have to be made. I have made these decisions in my own personal life and in business, and I am prepared to do so again in the House.
