As the West Valley's primary voice in Congress, I am working to connect Las Vegas and Phoenix through the designation and completion of Interstate 11. Besides increasing commerce connectivity across the intermountain west, I-11 could relieve traffic demand on Interstate 5, and congestion in the Phoenix metropolitan area and Boulder City, Nevada, reducing pollution, improving quality of life, and avoiding the substantial economic costs associated with traffic delays. Designation of I-11 in 2012 was a critical first step in the long-term plan to finally connect Phoenix and Las Vegas on the Interstate Highway System and to promote the safe evacuation of residents in the region in the event of an emergency.

I look forward to continuing to work with leaders in years to come in addressing our common transportation priorities and to ensure that our infrastructure in the West Valley is safe, efficient, and reliable.

I oppose most light rail projects. We know that most rail projects operate at a financial deficit. If a city, state, or nation cannot afford to fund the entire system, keeping it solvent for many years to come, the system should not be constructed; it is destined to break the backs of future generations.
