I will do all within my power to protect the right of all children to have a family and protect the right of parents to control the education and upbringing of their children.
One of my greatest commitments in this Congress is to help America build strong and stable families. It is strong and stable families that build America. When I hold and kiss my children goodbye to come to Washington every week, the pain I feel in leaving them for several days is mitigated by the hope that I will be seeing them again very soon. But hundreds of American families are separated from their children, with no sense of certainty or knowing when they will be allowed to see their children again, or to know when they will be home for good.

There is much Congress can do to ensure that every child knows the love, safety, and security that can only come from a family --- the irreplaceable support system that loves you, believes in you, cheers you on, provides for your needs, and supports you no matter what. In my three decades of public service, I have consistently focused on protecting the right of parents to make decisions for their children. Put simply, there are really only two options when it comes to who will determine the substance of a child's education: it will be either a bureaucrat who doesn't know the child's name, or a parent who would pour out their last drop of blood for the child.
