A trio of influential 2nd Amendment groups are now backing Bozeman businessman and tech entrepreneur Greg Gianforte for governor.

On Tuesday, the national gun rights group Gun Owners of America (GOA) announced their endorsement of Gianforte, who earned the GOA's "A-rating." The GOA endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from both the National Rifle Association and the Montana Shooting Sports Association.

Tim Macy, the Chairman of the Gun Owners of America, says the difference between Greg Gianforte and Steve Bullock on the Second Amendment is wider and deeper than the distance between the Big Belt and Little Belt Mountains of Montana.

TIM MACY, Chairman, Gun Owners of America: "Governor Bullock has vetoed several pro-gun bills during his tenure, including legislation to protect Montana citizens from federal government anti-gun laws, as well as legislation expanding Montana's current concealed carry law. What Governor Bullock has proven is that he either doesn't understand the Constitution or he doesn't care about it."

GREG GIANFORTE: "No matter what happens in Washington, DC, we're going to need leaders in Helena who will stand up to federal overreach and be on guard for our 2nd Amendment rights. As your next governor, I'll fight for your 2nd Amendment rights and our Montana way of life."

Gianforte is the founder of RightNow Technologies. He and his wife started that small business out of their home in Bozeman, which quickly grew to over 500 high wage Montana jobs. The average Montana salary at RightNow was nearly $90,000 a year. Oracle purchased RightNow in 2012, and continues to expand the company's footprint in Montana.

The Gun Owners of America join a distinguished list of organizations and individuals endorsing the Gianforte campaign; including the National Rifle Association, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Montana Chamber of Commerce, the Montana Farm Bureau, the Montana Building Industry Association, the Montana Bankers Association, the Montana Shooting Sports Association, the Susan B. Anthony List, the Montana Association of Realtors, several former Montana governors and statewide officials, and others.
