Hoeven: DOJ Awards $230K to Prevent Online Exploitation of Children in North Dakota

Senator John Hoeven, a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $230,632 to the North Dakota Attorney General's (AG) Office. The funds are made available through DOJ's National Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program and will be used by the AG and its partners as they work with state and local investigators, prosecutors and educators to help prevent the online exploitation of children.

"Our law enforcement officials provide vital services, often in the most difficult and dangerous of circumstances, to help keep our communities and families safe," Hoeven said. "We continue working to make sure they have the tools they need to keep up with modern threats. These funds will help ensure that state and local officials can monitor online threats, apprehend offenders and provide education to help protect children from becoming victims."

The state's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) will support these operations by continuing to fund training and equipment to establish regional computer forensic investigations and by maintaining parole and probation officers who manage sex offender caseloads.
