Congressman Rubén Hinojosa Statement On Fourth Anniversary Of DACA

Statement

Date: Aug. 15, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) stated the following regarding the fourth anniversary of the implementation of President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA):

"Four years ago today, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) was officially enacted by President Obama. Since its inception, over 700,000 young people have benefitted from this executive action.

"DACA recipients are a talented group of young individuals who were brought to this country as children. They are contributing members of our society, and America is stronger because of the skills and talent these DACA recipients possess and contribute to our communities.

"However, we must remember that the only way to permanently address our nation's immigration challenges is through comprehensive immigration reform. Our nation cannot continue to allow these DACA recipients and the millions of undocumented immigrants to live in fear of deportation. With this in mind, I will continue to work with my House colleagues and fight for comprehensive immigration reform in order to keep our families together."
