The three Democratic candidates for Governor took the stage in the only gubernatorial forum before the upcoming Primary Election. All three talked about the troubles facing West Virginia without failing to realize that the problems have been created by 16 years of failed Democratic leadership.
"From the opening statements where Booth Goodwin talked about the problems facing our state to Jim Justice calling the state's current state "troubling,' the three Democratic candidates for Governor talked a lot about the problems facing West Virginia. What none of them had the courage to admit is that it was 16 years of failed leadership and President Obama's misguided War on Coal that has destroyed the economy and hurt families," said Kent Gates, Bill Cole for Governor General Consultant.
"Bill Cole sat down with Ashton Marra for a post-debate interview where he focused on real solutions to move our state forward. Bill Cole offered a specific plan to fix the current budget crisis through spending cuts, using some of the Rainy Day Fund and a 45-cent hike in the cigarette tax. He discussed how to diversify the economy through natural gas development and building cracker plants and pipelines. He outlined how he would bring the private and public sectors together to develop a broadband network. He outlined a clear plan to improve student achievement through more technology in classrooms and teaching new courses like computer coding. Bill Cole outlined a clear vision to once again make West Virginia proud and West Virginia strong," concluded Gates.
