Our country can't run on Washington hot air -- we need Louisiana energy powering our cars, trucks, businesses, and homes. Dr. Charles Boustany championed legislation that will encourage domestic energy production in order to ensure Louisiana is a leader in the domestic energy revolution. Through his efforts, Louisiana has the capacity to become the global leader in LNG production. This will create more opportunities for the people of Louisiana by making us a focal point of global energy.

Energy is the cornerstone of Louisiana prosperity. With energy prices falling and layoffs rising, we need a real strategy along with Senators who have the skills to get the job done. It is incomprehensible that the Administration would push to allow Iran to export its oil all over the world, but tell American companies they couldn't compete abroad. Dr. Boustany worked to build a coalition to lift the ban on U.S. oil exports and he got the job done. With American companies having access to new markets, the price of oil is beginning to stabilize.

But we can and must do much more. That means opposing new taxes on energy -- which is why Dr. Boustany wrote the bill opposing Obama's new $10.25 tax on every barrel of oil. It also means opposing harmful regulations on the industry -- which is why he led the charge against Obama's drilling moratorium and regulations like the BSEE well control rule that could shut down exploration in the Gulf of Mexico yet again.

It's clear no one will be a stronger advocate for Louisiana energy than Dr. Charles Boustany in the United States Senate.
