Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12) released a statement regarding the updated deportation status of Pedro Salmeron, North Carolina youth and ICE Detainee.

"I am pleased to learn that Pedro Salmeron has been granted a stay of removal by the Board of Immigration Appeals. My office has been diligent in their efforts, working with officials at the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to appeal Pedro's previously scheduled deportation. While Pedro has not been released, we will continue to monitor this situation and do everything in our power to return Pedro to his family. As a mother, I cannot imagine having my child taken from me and placed into our nation's broken immigration system. This is yet another reminder of the need for comprehensive immigration reform."
