Safeguarding the Lives of the Unborn.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a family practice doctor is having the opportunity to help hundreds of babies enter the world. I've spent 36 years practicing medicine guided by the principle of protecting the lives of all my patients, including expectant mothers and newborns. Because I agree with the medical and scientific communities that life begins at conception.

I follow the same principle--and pursue the same cause--as a Congressman. I'll never stop fighting to protect the sanctity of life and prevent the senseless killing of millions of children. That's why the National Right to Life Committee gave me a 100% on their 2011-2012 scorecard. And why the Family Research Council awards me a 100% score for advancing faith, family and freedom.

I recently voted to defund Planned Parenthood, and I'll continue to fight to until taxpayers are no longer forced to support America's largest abortion provider: whose illegal, outrageous, and morally reprehensible practice of trafficking tissue obtained from aborted fetuses for profit surely cannot be justified by even the most hardline, pro-abortion liberal.

To me, this isn't just a political matter. It's a matter of conscience. It's a matter of doing what's right. I believe that we as a nation and as a society will be judged by our tolerance of abortion, which is a perversion of medicine and a perversion of law.

I am wholeheartedly committed to protecting the defenseless and innocent. And I'll continue to do everything in my power to protect the sanctity of life.
