Lt. Gen. Boykin was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment---Delta Force--and ultimately had the privilege of commanding these elite warriors in combat operations. He also had the distinction of commanding the Army's Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School. During his last four years in the Army, Lt. Gen. Boykin served as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence under President George W. Bush from 2002-2007. Lt. Gen. Boykin is a highly-decorated officer, receiving the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Air Medal. In all, Lt. Gen. Boykin served his country with honor and distinction for 36 years. Lt. Gen. Boykin is an ordained minister and currently serves as Executive Vice President for the Family Research Council.

"It is a great privilege for me to endorse Congressman John Fleming in his run for a U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana," said Lt. Gen. Boykin. "Dr. Fleming is a solid conservative and a man of integrity who is unafraid of taking on the most difficult tasks in Washington. Each time that I have asked Congressman Fleming for assistance in matters dealing with the U.S. military or religious liberty, he has not only responded by taking action but he has also lead the efforts in most cases. Dr. Fleming is a patriot and constitutionalist who believes that there is no substitute for a strong military to protect the nation from myriad adversaries, including ISIS. America needs John Fleming as a U.S. Senator to secure America's future and to bring truly conservative leadership to this most important political body. I encourage all veterans who vote in the state of Louisiana to support one of our own, Dr. John Fleming."

"It is a great honor to receive the support of such a highly-decorated, honorable and courageous U.S. Army veteran such as Lt. Gen. Boykin," said Congressman Fleming. "As a Navy Veteran, I agree with Lt. Gen. Boykin that it is time to reverse the ill-advised and reckless policies that have been implemented by this White House and that threaten national security and the welfare of our men and women in uniform. We can no longer afford to move forward with decisions that are dangerous, misguided and not in the best interests of this country. We must restore the values that made this country great and as a U.S. Senator, I vow to continue to fight for and support the men and women who took an oath to defend the Constitution and the people of this country."
