Yoho Statement on Anniversary of the Iran Nuclear Deal

Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) released the following statement on the one year anniversary of Iran Nuclear Deal.

"One year ago today, the Obama Administration claimed victory for signing a flawed nuclear deal with Iran. Since then, for 365 days, we have watched an Iranian regime thumb their nose at that agreement, America, and the world.

"Iran remains hostile, expansionist, and violent. Since last October, November, and again in March, Iran has conducted multiple ballistic-missile tests in direct violation of U. N. Security Council resolutions. Iran continues to arm Houthi militias in Yemen who fight to depose the legitimate government while at the same time announcing last month they are ready to send in military advisors. Furthermore, in December, Iran fired rockets dangerously close to an American aircraft carrier in international waters. Worse still, on January 12, 2016, two United States Navy boats were seized by Iran's navy, detaining ten American sailors for 15 hours. And just last week, Germany's intelligence service announced that Iran has been attempting to buy nuclear technology and equipment through China and Russia. This is a clear violation of the agreement that was reached.

"These are not the actions of a regime working towards peace and stability in the region. President Obama's administration has its head in the sand if they think this deal was a victory for peace. Iran will have their bomb and they are actively working towards that goal with or without a signed agreement.

"It is the responsibility of the federal government to ensure the security of the American people. I will continue to do my part, as a Member of Congress and as a Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to vote in favor of legislation that will hold the Iranian regime accountable and help prevent them from developing a nuclear weapon."
