Congresswoman Speier Issues Statement on "28 Pages" from 9/11 Joint Inquiry Report

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo counties) today issued the following statement regarding the Administration's declassification of the so-called "28 pages," a section of the 2002 Joint Congressional Inquiry into the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

"The public release of the previously classified 28 pages of the Joint Inquiry into the 9/11 attacks is long overdue. The information in these pages describes the possible links between Saudi Arabia and some of the September 11th hijackers. It belongs in the public domain and not locked away in the basement of the Capitol," said Rep. Speier, a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. "While the conclusions in the report were based on unverified information, it is an important contribution to our collective discussion about what happened that terrible day. It is critical that we learn from our mistakes to ensure an attack of that magnitude never happens again."
