Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement after the U.S. House passed the Iran Accountability Act.

"For too long the Obama Administration has too often failed to hold Iran accountable for its support and financing of terrorism, the illegal tests of its ballistic missile program and its numerous human rights abuses. The President's Iran policy is simple: whatever Iran wants, Iran gets. Today's sanctions and other actions counter the Administration's view of Iran and makes clear the position that if Iran wants to join the global community it must first earn the world's trust."

Last week Lance offered an amendment to the Financial Services Appropriations Act that would tie the hands of U.S. Treasury officials attempting permit Iran's use of the U.S. dollar. Lance's amendment passed unanimously and this week's legislation goes further in adding new sanctions, stopping the Administration's purchase of heavy water from Iran and preventing any additions steps to appease Iran.
