Issue Position

If you work hard and play by the rules in America, you should have an opportunity to succeed. That is the promise of the American dream. Yet, in today's economy, too many Americans feel they work hard with little opportunity to get ahead. Paychecks are shrinking, and many of our friends and neighbors are struggling to find good paying jobs. Congress can play a role in creating a healthy economy that encourages job growth. That means lowering taxes that stop employers from creating new jobs, reducing the number of inefficient and ineffective job-killing regulations and ensuring job-seekers have the skills they need for 21st Century jobs. It also means balancing the federal budget and reducing the cost of borrowing, so that our children and grandchildren will have an opportunity to succeed as well.
