Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) applauded the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's announcement that it will award the Arcadia Fire Department a $72,000 grant to help with operations and safety.

"Our communities rely on the lifesaving services provided by the brave men and women of our local fire departments," said Miller. "However, many of our local departments struggle to acquire the equipment and resources they need to safely and effectively protect our communities. This grant will assist the Arcadia Fire Department in its critical mission of protecting its surrounding communities."

According to Arcadia Fire Chief Tom Knaggs, the fire department will use the grant to replace its aging Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs.

Background:

In cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has created an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program intended to support local fire departments and other local first responders. The Arcadia Fire Department was awarded $72,000 for operations and safety which it will use to purchase new equipment.
